Samba in Rio
Well, we arrived safe and sound here in Rio to torrential rain and customs queues. Still soon moved through that and are now sat sweltering in the 30 degree heat. Have been to the Maracana stadium to see the local teams (Flamengo vs Fluminese), which had a great atmosphere and 4 goals. Although it holds 200,000 people, it wasnt full when we went, but was still good with the samba beat providing a great soundtrack for the chants.
Just returned from Christ the Redeemer, getting a superb view all over Rio from 750m up. It really is a fantastic location for a city. Off to the Carnival tonight, managed to get tickets to the Sambadromo, but it doesnt start until 9pm tonight and goes on until 4am. Weve already seem some of the costumed people and floats in the streets, and it looks like it will be a once in the lifetime experience.
Pictures to follow later when we get to Buenos Aires. Off to Sao Paolo on Thursday 10th, and then on to Buenos Aires on the 11th.

XXXXX (for Hannah)
Hello Hannah and Gareth,
Love-lee to see you enjoying your trip around the world. I do hope to see more of it in the future. Thing is I've been a bit busy you seeeee?
My boss keeps walking round with bits of paper asking 'Now who need the fire service' and I've just had to put out a fire at Bellas cafe in downtown Pontypandy. I also had to rescue another cat and that blasted kid Eric got his head caught in some more railings again.
Remember kids, be safe.
Your Hero-next-door,
Sam.
Hi Hannah and Gareth,
Sounds like you're already getting into the swing of things and have got off to a good start. Hope you have a great time in all the places you'll be visiting and we're looking forward to your progress reports.
Take care, Jen and Justin
Ps. It's cold, wet and windy here at the moment, so you're not missing anything!
